This is Fortunate, and she is now our daughter.

Hard to believe, right?

She is 7 years old and has been a student sponsored by the McKinsey Foundation for a while.

Fortunate has been raised by a single mother in the village with no father around and no family to speak of. Sadly, her mother passed away with complications from HIV.

She left Fortunate in the care of the Foundation. This has never happened so we are walking a new journey here. We are not currently set up to meet the needs of orphans but have made temporary arrangements for Fortunate.

An uncle has been found about 4 hours away but isn’t interested in taking on responsibility for Fortunate. He said he was willing to visit her over the holidays. (Christmas) it’s not promising that he will come through.

So, we have visited with Fortunate, assessed her immediate needs and gave her a baby of her own to love on as her mother loved her.

My grandmother here (in the village) has taken on the responsibility of her Immediate care, but we need a sponsor to supply for her basic needs like food, clothing, medical care, etc.

If anyone is interested in partnering with us to care for Fortunate, please set up a reoccurring payment of $30 a month in her name.

Thank you in advance and always, if you can’t help financially, Fortunate needs many prayers. She has a long road ahead of her. #calledtoservetheorphans
